- Cart
- IMI Components
In the text here below, more information on the various components is included.
High Voltage cables
Please note the xMB-9640 uses two types of high voltage harnesses; HVS and HVP, recognizable by the part number printed on the surface, where this part number is either 430-000589 or ………590.
Low Voltage cables
Low voltage common cable / module cable – Interface Box
The Low Voltage Harness, or common cable, is used for all Low Voltage connections with your interface box, unless not applicable for the Battery you’re working on. For IMI-Box connections this is not used.
This part is also being referred to as “Module Cable”, pictured here below.
Part number = 130-000741 (also referred to as A793).

Low Voltage communication cables
In addition to the common cable, to connect with the various module types, there are several low voltage cables available. Please use the vehicle specific information found under the manuals section of this knowledge base for more specific information per vehicle.
To find cables available and identify which cables you need for the vehicle model you want to service, please use the Spare Parts section.
In addition, you’ll find supporting documentation and pictures of cables available here.
Temperature sensor cables
Please use the vehicle specific information found under the manuals section of this knowledge base to determine which one you need.
A table of all available temperature sensor cables and pictures of these parts are available here.
Please note the temperature cables are not needed together with IMI-Cables.
Interface boxes
There are multiple interface boxes to be used for different batteries. Please note:
- “Interface box” or “Interface” is the same as “Connection box”
- Whether a HVS or HVP cable is to be used is printed on top of the interface box and can be found in the spare parts overview on this knowledge base.
- The Part number is printed on top. However, in some cases the Axxx number is not printer, but a 288-100xxx number is printed. You can identify the box using the references here below.
- The vehicle where the interface box is inentend for, is printed on top. But in some cases, the interface may also be used for other vehicles, like the A765 is used for multiple KONA vehicles, but also for the IONIQ. Another example is the A762, originally designed for the KONA Hybrid, but also used to balance the modules for the Sonata, Tucson, Santa Fe and Avante vehicles using the DN8-HEV platform.
Currently there are 5 Interface boxes:
| Interface Box -Part number | Picture | Also referred to as | Type | Use HV-cable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A762 | ![]() | 288-100274 | A | HVS |
| A763 | ![]() | 288-100276 | B | HVP |
| A764 * | ![]() | 288-100277 | C | HVP |
| A765 ** | ![]() | 288-100278 | D | HVS |
| A951 | Work in progress | 288-100386 | E | HVS |
Please note:
* Part number A764 consists of the interface box Type “C” + the Temperature cable A841. If you only want to order the Interface box itself without the temperature cable, order Part A778.
** Part number A765 consists of interface box type “D” including Kona harnesses including Kona harnesses A856 (3P20S), A847(3P19S), A858 and A859 (both for 2P30S) and Temp cable A855. If you only want to buy the Interface box itself, order Part Number A779.
Cart
There is an optional cart available. With this cart, moving around the xMB-9640 trough the workshop becomes easy.
Part number: HKHEV9640C

IMI Components
IMI
The Intelligent Module Interface or “IMI” is a box that provides communication from the module to the xMB-9640.

Low voltage common cable / module cable – IMI
The low voltage communication cable used to connect the xMB-9640 to the IMI module.
Part number = 130-0008085 (also referred to as A791), also refered to as “PIN STRAIGHT DIN PLUGS”.

IMI to Interface Box Cable
If you work with an xMB that connects directly to the IMI using cable 130-000808 (A791) and want to use Interface Boxes and their cables, you need the additional communication cable A1032.
This allows you to still connect the Interface Box to your IMI after you upgraded your xMB with the IMI Upgrade Kit. This cable A1032 is included in the Kits A1190 and A1071.

Part number: 130-001187 (A1032)
